Insert Molding

Insert Molding

Insert molding of metal components achieves a permanent bond of plastic to metal. Parts such as these require molded-in fasteners, anchors, hinges and electrical connectors. Deep River Plastics has both horizontal and vertical presses with rotary shuttles for insert molding.

Overmolding

Overmolding

Overmolding of rigid plastic substrates with thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) can provide a soft feel, improve grip, weather seal, dampen vibration and protect against impact. A wide range of colors, textures and durometers are available. Deep River Plastics has a wealth of experience selecting the proper materials and processing procedures to ensure success.

Lens Molding

Lens Molding

Clear polycarbonates, crystal styrenes and acrylics are common choices for transparent lenses. We assist customers in material selection for optical clarity, transference, reflectivity and environmental resistance. For assemblies, we can perform pressure testing for water resistance.

Deep River Plastics has also been a single point of contact for vacuum metallization, electroplating and hard coating services.

Deep River Plastics has the press size range to accommodate small parts (<1 gram) and large parts (up to 8 lbs.) Our diverse range of equipment allows us to manufacture products for almost any plastic application. Capabilities include the experienced planning, fabrication and handling of large molds, as well as precision molds for small, complicated parts.

Exterior Components

We injection mold enclosures, housings and panels. Exterior components such as these require additives to combat exposure to UV light and chemicals, as well as mitigate electromagnetic interference. For highly cosmetic parts we have advised customers of available surface finishes, textures and custom colorants.

Deep River Plastics performs a number of post-mold operations including fastener insertion, machining, ultrasonic welding, heat staking, pad printing, hot stamping, painting, EMI/RFI shielding and assembly.

Internal Components

Dimensional accuracy is often of critical importance for internal components such as these chassis parts. Each required the proper selection of materials, tool design strategy and processing procedures. Polymers with glass fibers and/or other reinforcing fillers were specified to reduce shrinkage and achieve tight tolerances.

Polycarbonate (PC), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polyetherimide (PEI) are commonly specified. Deep River Plastics can also help select flame-resistant resins with corresponding, appropriate UL ratings.

Engineering Polymers

Engineering Polymers

Deep River Plastics molds a number of high-performance, engineered resins for demanding shear, tensile and impact strength applications. These engineered polymers can also offer high heat deflection, chemical resistance and critical dimensional stability.

The list includes polyetheretherketone (PEEK), liquid crystal polymer (LCP), polyphthalamide (PPA), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyacetal (POM), polysulfone (PSU), polyphenylsulfone (PPSU), polyethersulfone (PES), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), polyamide (PA 6/6), polycarbonate (PC) and PC/ABS blends.
